Though deeply layered and mystical at times, through metaphor, allusion and poetic license, Ascension speaks to people living real lives: working, loving, struggling, questioning, failing and trying again and wondering whether there is a more authentic and purposeful way to move through the world.

What This Book Is Not

A great majority of poems in the work stand on there own, but Ascension is not a standard collection of poems. The poems in Ascension were written in the order they appear and each could be viewed as a "chapter" of the "epic" work. Themes, characters and settings are created, developed, carried and referenced throughout the body, most of which show up in the last poem of the work, so it is recommended to read Ascension from cover to cover before jumping around.
